Job Search Secrets Revealed – How To Research The Companies
Research and development is the cornerstone of progress in Science and Technology.
There’s no doubt about it.
Make a list of nations who are way ahead of the rest of the world in terms of scientific progress and you find that they spend large sums of money in research and development.
Israel, Japan and Germany to name a few…
There’s a lesson for us at the individual level.
Doing our homework before making any commitments is advisable no matter what it is; whether it is buying a new product that is taking the market by storm or even conducting a little research about a company with whom we plan to work with.
You don’t want to end up with a product that’s not worth the money or a job that is anything but fulfilling, do you?
Especially in the case of the latter, where you will spend at least two-thirds of your day for an extended period of time.
Now that we’ve established that it is important to research the company you want to work for, let’s try and determine what one needs to look for.
What this also does will give you more information to be prepared for the interview especially if the company is a reputable one.
So, what are the sources that one can use in order to collect more information about the company before the interview?
Among the many ways by which you can find information about the company, the Internet is probably the easiest method to use to check up on a company and its reputation.
Of course, the news, its website, social media sites will give you more than enough information for a start.
If you want to find more information, you can always ask the recruitment agency about the company but be aware that they might present information in a slightly biased manner.
Another authentic way by which you can find information about the company is by speaking to employees who are already working within the company, and especially those who have been working there for over a year or two.
While you should be able to find valuable information about the company from any these sources, the question remains: What information should I ask for?
Firstly, you ask for general information about the company, how long it’s been in business, its reputation in the market, the number of employees and competitors are as well as who its customers are.
Secondly, also ask about your interviewers and what they are like as well as the managers and other employees of the company.
Also, ask if the company offers training programs going forward.
Last but not the least ask if the company has had any issues in the past, and how these issues were resolved.
Don’t forget to ask if there have been layoffs in the past and why they’re hiring at this point.
Make sure that you garner sufficient information as to where the company is headed in the future, and determine whether or not it’s in your best interests to work for them or not.
